Privacy Policy

Who we are

This app is operated by Free The Music Ministry, a faith-based ministry. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “the Ministry,” it means Free The Music Ministry. You can reach us any time at admin@freethemusic.life.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign up, your name and email address are collected through our authentication provider, Clerk. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider.
  • Your password is never seen by us. Clerk handles sign-in and stores credentials securely; we don’t have access to your password.
  • Profile details you add. An optional display name and profile picture.
  • Your learning activity. Which lessons you mark complete, which calls you mark watched, songs you create in the Songbook, and tuner sessions you log. We store this so the app can show your progress.
  • Technical data. Standard server logs (such as IP address, device and browser type, and timestamps) generated by our hosting provider when you use the app.

How we use your information

  • To run the app — sign you in, save your progress, and personalize what you see.
  • To keep the app secure and working, and to fix problems.
  • To respond to you when you contact us.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t show third-party advertising in the app.

Service providers we rely on

We use a small set of trusted providers to deliver the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:

  • Clerk — account sign-in and identity.
  • Neon — the database that stores your progress, songs, and tuner history.
  • Vercel — hosting and delivery of the app.
  • Descript — playback of recorded call videos.
  • WordPress (freethemusic.life) — the source of the lesson content.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of the Ministry, our members, or others.

Cookies

We use essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and the app functioning securely. We don’t use cookies for advertising.

Children and families

The app is made for learners of all ages, including children — music is for everyone. A child under 13 may use the app only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, who should create and supervise the account. We don’t knowingly collect more personal information from a child than is needed to provide the app.

Parents and guardians can review, correct, or delete their child’s information, or close the account, by emailing admin@freethemusic.life. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental consent, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing admin@freethemusic.life; we’ll remove it except where we’re required to keep certain records.

Your choices and rights

  • Access or update your name, email, and profile from the Edit Profile screen.
  • Request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by email.
  • Close your account at any time.

Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No online service can be perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond promptly if something goes wrong.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be noted in the app. Continuing to use the app means you accept the current policy.
